Featured Game: Spot the Differences

Spot the Differences games are a dime a dozen, but this one has a graphical design that far surpasses most. Scan the surreal landscapes for differences without being distracted by the flickering and changing animations.

Update: It looks like that link no longer works. Thanks to Katie for pointing it out! Fortunately, the game is still available through CrazyGames and Kongregate.

Featured Game: Peekaboom

Peekaboom is a little like Pictionary, but the pictures are already drawn for you. You and a random partner take turns revealing parts of an image, while the other has to guess what the image is. Even better, while you play, you're improving visual search cues by "teaching" computers to recognize images.

Snowball

Remember in the cartoons how anytime someone was running down a hill in the snow, they'd trip and roll into a snowball which would then consume anything in its path until it finally hit a tree or a building? Well, that's exactly the concept behind the game Snowball. Roll your snowball, collect animals, snowmen, even people. But watch out for the trees and cabins and those slippery patches of ice!

Squares

On the surface, Squares looks like a food-chain-type game, but the difference is there is no food chain. The rules are simple:
  • Absorb the black blocks (regardless of size)
  • Avoid the red blocks (regardless of size)
Circles are special, red ones are bad, black are good. They may grant you invincibility, change the size of your square, or simply hand you a thousand points. And of course, the game gets faster (and therefore harder) as you progress.

Proximity

In Proximity, players take turns placing hexagons with random numbers on them. If your number is greater than your opponent's adjacent hex, you win his armies in that hex and they become yours. If you place your hex next to your own armies, each army it touches gains a point. It doesn't matter how many hexes you control at the end, rather how large the numbers in them. The object is to have the highest score when all of the hexes have been filled.

Fillomino

Fillomino is a number puzzle game where the object is to simply fill the grid. Of course, there are rules to follow... Some of the numbers are already filled in for you, and all of the numbers must be connected to form block that correspond to their value (example: two blocks that say "2", five blocks that say "5")

Road Blocks 2

Road Blocks 2 is a fun little puzzler that will certainly get you thinking. Each of the different games includes different types of road blocks to work with (or around), making for hours of challenging fun!

Blobber

Blobber is another of what I like to call the "food chain" games. In other words, eat stuff that's littler than you to grow until you're big enough to eat the really big stuff. The difference here is that there is some "stuff" that you can never eat at all. No matter how big you get. Also, instead of your typical format of items coming from the sides and passing through the game screen to go off the other side, this one has everything bouncing around all together. It makes for a fun diversion for a dull Monday.

Shape Invasion

In Shape Invasion, you have to protect your base from a number of incoming shapes, which get increasingly harder as you level up. Earn money for each shape you kill and spend it on upgrades to your gun or additional guns to aide you. But don't let the shapes reach the bottom of the screen!

Bubble Tanks

In the addictive game Bubble Tanks, you begin with a small tank consisting of a yellow ball inside a clear bubble. Leap from one giant bubble to the next, killing enemy tanks and collecting small bubbles to add to your own tank, but avoid getting hit or you'll lose some of the precious bubbles you've already absorbed.

Red

In Red, your object is to protect your base from various falling balls by shooting one of two types of ammo at them. Collect all the power-ups you can, but be careful not to run out of ammo or it's game over!

Fancy Pants Adventure

Fancy Pants Adventure is a side-scrolling adventure game, reminiscent of Sonic the Hedgehog. Your character is a stick man (with fancy orange pants) who has to run, jump, duck and roll through levels, unlocking doors, defeating monsters and collecting coins as you go. Just don't get eaten by the giant spiders...

3D Logic

Thanks again to Princess Jami for helping out while I was in Russia!

And now, a game for your Monday morning: 3D Logic is a great little puzzler where you have to connect colored blocks on a 3D cube. Sounds easy? Well, it is, for a few levels anyway, but as you continue to get harder and harder puzzles you will likely find yourself pleasantly challenged!

Kingdom of Loathing - An Adventurer is You!

Kingdom of Loathing, or KoL, is a turn-based stick-figure Role-Playing Game, or RPG, with really terrible puns.

You can choose to play one of six character types: Seal Clubber, Turtle Tamer, Pastamancer, Sauceror (see? puns? You're a wizard who cooks), Disco Bandit or Accordion Thief. Since I like to spend my time in melee action, I generally choose a seal clubber type. Today, I'm going to try out the path of disco banditry, wearing a disco mask but no pants, and wielding my trusty disco ball. Increase the amount of turns per day through what you eat and drink, sometimes things you can buy or wear. Despite such simple design (i.e. rough drawings), KoL is an engaging game that may take some days of your life, and that will be okay, because of all the fun you will be having. Get to it! Have some fun!

Oh, and you can keep your character for as long as your account is active. You don't need to keep changing your mind, like it looks like I did, especially since there's a way to start over once you finish the final quest.

Distraction

I'm guessing that the name of this game is "Distraction", considering that the title on the start page is Asian (Japanese?). Fortunately, the game is simple enough that you don't need more than that to understand what is going on. Keep the bird aloft with your mouse and score points by flying over fruit and avoiding missiles. Adding a little wrinkle to this cute little game are other creatures around the frame, who try to make your staying aloft much more tricky by changing the size of the game window, or wiggling the corners. This game is so cheerful that I was smiling while I was playing...even when the puppy was pestering my bird.

Motherload

In Motherload, you are plopped onto the surface of Mars with only an ore digging machine. A fuzzy transmission from the mothership explains your expedition, which is to mine all possible ore out of the ground. At first, all seems light and fluffy and exciting. Even the Mars digger machine is kind of cute and cuddly. Then, the deeper you mine and the richer the ore that you find, the creepier things seem to get. Ground-shifting earthquakes are only the beginning of your troubles.

Basic gameplay is: Dig ore to sell for gas or upgrades, like larger fuel tanks or stronger drill bits. Make sure not to run out of fuel, or your game could end like this:

Budapest Defenders

As you may know, BunGirl has an affinity for Tower Defense games. Today's Featured Game, recommended by BunGirl, herself, is Budapest Defenders, where placement of roadblocks and defensive shooters is key to keeping the Soviets out of the Hungarian capital city for good. I like that this game has a real historical background, since it's set in 1956. Creeps, like tanks, enter the map from various checkpoints. Instead of building towers, I get to place individual Hungarian defense people atop buildings in Budapest. The molotov thrower is my favorite, because he gets to explode things. Now, it's your turn to play Budapest Defenders and preserve the future of Hungary!

Introduction and Bubble Bees

Welcome, Fellow Gamers. I'm Princess Jami, friend of BunGirl and also a game fan. We have lined up a terrific variety of fun (and FREE!) games for you to try in her absence. For example: Bubble Bees.

If I have a few minutes to spare, but I don't want to spend a lot of time thinking too hard, I like to spend my extra minutes trapping cute little bumble bees with a bubble wand. The more bees in a bubble, the more points. With a quite simple concept, a light and airy soundtrack and a cheery background, Bubble Bees is a delight.

Jelly Blocks

Jelly Blocks is a fun and addictive puzzler where you simply have to group all of the blocks of the same color together. The trick:
  • Black blocks don't move at all.
  • All other blocks move together.
  • Once two blocks of the same color touch, they're stuck.
Go check it out and enjoy!

And now, I am off to Russia for a week, but I will be leaving you in the most capable hands of Princess Jami. I can't wait to see all the fun she has in store!

Mad Virus

In Mad Virus your object is to spread your germ
(which apparently produces cartoon eyeballs!) across the entire board in the fewest moves possible. You do this by clicking the colored blocks on the left and infecting any block of that color that is currently touching your virus. Keep spreading until no eye-less block remains!

Speed

In Speed, your object is to move all of your cards to the two center foundation decks, but watch out because the computer is trying to build on those same decks! With leveled play and simple graphics, this is an easy, quick game -- perfect for your Tuesday!

Disorientation

In the game of Disorientation, your only goal is to navigate your way through a maze filled with sharp spikes. Sounds simple, right? Of course, there's a catch. While you wander, the maze is spinning, twisting, warping. Just try to remember which way is up!

News: Featured Games is on a semi-hiatus. I may post games here as I see fit, but it won't be regularly, at least for a while.
