Anyone who has tried them can likely attest to the dullness of most typing-teacher software programs. Fortunately though, there are alternatives. A whole crop of games have sprung up all over the web to offer practice to those who are still hunting and pecking for keys on their keyboard. One of my favorites is
Word Shoot. Simply type the words that appear under your enemies before they get close enough to shoot back at you. Type "detonate" when a bomb appears or "fullhealth" when a first aid kit drops. The first few waves of invaders are three letter words, but the complexity goes up from there. All in all, a great little diversion that also gives you some good practice time with a skill that is so crucial to our world today.
